Final exams are getting closer, which means it's time to figure out how things are going with their passing this year. The current academic year has generally “pleased” with a large number of innovations. For example, the Ministry of Education and Science proposed an educational standard for education, adopted a declaration on education. In general, they created a lot of resonant reasons for discussion. The procedure for conducting a unified state examination also did not go unnoticed. What changes await 2018 graduates, what you need to know and what to prepare for. We understand.

Back in September, Education Minister Olga Vasilyeva spoke about corruption in the field of school Olympiads. According to statistics, 40% of last year's Olympiads were unable to confirm their knowledge with USE points (they did not score more than 60 points in specialized subjects).
In this regard, at a meeting of the Committee of the Federation Council on Science, it was decided that the exemption for a state-funded place applies only if at least 75 points are scored for the Unified State Examination in the subject of the Olympiad.
Moreover, by decree of the Minister, the list of preferential Olympiads was reduced to 97.
The medal "for special merits" is issued to graduates who graduated from school with only "fives". Universities, in turn, have the right to add from 1 to 10 additional points to the total amount. In this regard, the Ministry of Education also found corruption in the field of issuing medals. Unfortunately, the statistics confirm this. The consequence of this was the initiative of Rosobrnadzor to issue medals only to those who receive the equivalent of "five" points in state exams.
The bill will come into force in 2019, so this year's graduates will receive their awards regardless of passing the exam.
The format of this year's exam paper is also different from previous years' versions. According to representatives of the ministry, this was done in order to optimize the process, increase safety and save money. Moreover, all materials, including forms, will be printed directly in the PES.
Targets were also not left without attention. Due to the fact that any applicant can conclude an agreement with the company on training in the target area, the overall score of the Unified State Examination for those who entered this program is quite low. As you know, targeted candidates occupy budget places, some with an insufficient number of points. In this regard, the Ministry of Education and Science is considering a project, according to which a competition will be announced for the target, similar to the competition for budget places.
But at the moment there are no official legislative acts on this subject.

This year’s graduates will definitely not be affected by the innovation, but the next generations should pay attention. The Minister of Education officially announced that in 2020 all graduates will be required to take the exam in history, and in 2022 - in a foreign language.
In 2018, a bill came into force allowing universities to admit college graduates on the basis of the USE. That is, now the selection committee can choose what to be guided by - the USE or internal exams.
Exactly the same as the graduates themselves can choose the form of certification.
On April 12, 2018, the network was struck by the news that a bill is being prepared in the Duma obliging all graduates of the budgetary form of education to work for 4.5 or 6 years (depending on the level of higher education) in a state organization. At the moment, this is at the supply level, but future graduates are noticeably tense, since Sergey Vostretsov, the author of the idea, is a member of the United Russia party and has a Duma majority.
The Ministry of Education and Science plans to encourage young mothers under 23 with bonus points when entering universities. The bill will come into force no earlier than 2019. Based on the latest news, graduates of 2018 have nothing to worry about, most of the innovations will not make fundamental changes to the system for passing the unified state exam.
There is very little time left before the start of the new school year. But, already today, teachers, parents and future graduates are concerned about what innovations the Ministry of Education is preparing for 2017-2018 and what to expect for those who plan to take the Unified State Examination and fight for state-funded places in Russian universities.
In this article, we will cover the most important topics:
In 2017-2018, they have the right to take the GIA in the USE format:
Children who studied under individual programs or in the format of "family education" must first pass the GIA and write a final essay by contacting an educational institution that has state accreditation. To be admitted to the Unified State Examination, such graduates must obtain a grade of “satisfactory” or higher in the exams.
The right to take the exam in the early period (from 03/22/18 to 04/13/18) is available to graduates of previous years, as well as 11th graders with a weighty documented reason.
Every year, an increasing number of Crimean graduates choose to study at the universities of the Russian Federation. Over the past two years, 11th graders had a choice - to take the GIA in the USE format or the entrance exams directly at the university chosen for study. So, in 2017, 84% of Sevastopol graduates made a choice in favor of passing the exam. Most successfully passed the tests and entered the budget or contract forms of education in Russian universities.
According to the presidential decree, signed in July 2016, for graduates of the Crimean peninsula in 2018, the Unified State Exam should become mandatory.
In 2018, it is important for graduates to qualitatively prepare for the exam, as the marks obtained in the tests can significantly affect the certification score. This innovation will affect both compulsory subjects and elective exams.
Presumably, the system for converting the USE score into an assessment will be as follows:
Item | 5 points | 4 points | 3 points | did not pass |
Russian language | ||||
Mathematics | ||||
Physics | ||||
Computer science | ||||
Biology | ||||
Chemistry | ||||
Social science | ||||

Geography | ||||
Literature |
At the moment, there is no official information about any changes in the number of mandatory tests. In the 2017-2018 academic year, all USE participants will take the Russian language and mathematics (basic or profile level). Items to choose from include:
Discussions on the list of compulsory subjects are ongoing. It is possible that already in 2018 the announced innovations in the Unified State Examination will be adopted and all graduates will have to take history, geography or a foreign language. It is also possible to introduce an integrated test in the natural sciences.
It is worth immediately warning future 11th graders that the materials for preparing for the exam, which were used by 2016 graduates, are no longer relevant. In 2017, KIMS underwent significant changes in many subjects.
The examination paper consists of 2 parts, for which 210 minutes are allotted:
There is a possibility that in 2018 a third part will be added - speaking. Oral speech will be recorded and then evaluated by the commission. Most teachers believe that this is the only way to assess the real level of oral proficiency and the student's ability to express his opinion and position.
Tests with one answer option were completely removed from the tasks. In the USE of the basic level, as well as in the 1st block of the USE of the profile level, tasks with multiple choice (2 correct answers) will be offered. In the 2nd block of the profile level, they plan to focus on integrated tasks that require knowledge from the field of algebra and geometry.
Although the structure of tasks in 2018 will not be significantly changed, students in grade 11 are in for another not very pleasant surprise - a reduction in hours for studying physics. In the 2017-2018 academic year, the Ministry of Education decided to return to schools, allocating hours for teaching at the expense of physics.
In physics tickets, graduates will also not meet test tasks. Even entry-level tasks will require you to give a short answer (number, word, decimal fraction or sequence), and to solve high-level tasks, you will have to accumulate all your knowledge from different areas of physics and mathematics.
Also read more about surrender.
The main innovation of 2018 in information technology should be the complete rejection of paper tickets. You will have to demonstrate the level of computer proficiency, as well as the skills of logical thinking and working with data, modeling and building algorithms using a computer.
The idea is great, but will it take into account the peculiarities of teaching the subject in schools and provide students with the opportunity to choose the software they are familiar with for completing assignments. Time will show.
Back in 2017, such changes in KIMs in literature were actively discussed, such as:
Based on the announced innovations, it can be expected that the literature ticket will consist of three blocks. In 2017, 235 minutes were provided for passing the test. Whether more time will be provided in 2018 due to the complexity of tasks will be known towards the end of the calendar year.
The number of tasks in the ticket has decreased (in 2017, only 28 were offered to students), but the complexity has increased significantly. Tests were replaced by tasks for supplementing schemes and tables, matching, as well as analysis and synthesis of information.
An unpleasant surprise for many in 2017 was the fact that 11 out of 28 tasks contained illustrations (drawings, graphs, diagrams), the reading of which caused certain difficulties.
The structure of the ticket has changed significantly compared to 2016. In 180 minutes, examinees will need to complete 34 tasks (which is 6 less than before). But, at the same time, instead of tests with one answer, you will have to:
In 235 minutes, future applicants will have to answer 29 tasks, divided into two blocks:
Examinations in English, German, French and Spanish have not changed much. They go through two stages:
New for students in 2017-2018 will be the opportunity to pass the Chinese language, the study of which is rapidly gaining popularity today. The USE in Chinese was successfully tested in 2017 and this season will be offered to graduates along with English or Spanish.
The topic of the exam is of concern not only to graduates, but also to their parents and teachers. Work is constantly being done on this system for testing the knowledge of graduates, innovations in the USE do not stop and many adjustments are made. And, of course, you need to study the latest USE 2018 news in advance in order to know what to prepare for and not worry.
There were a lot of rumors about the USE in 2018 a couple of years ago: some wanted to cancel, others wanted to bring the number of compulsory subjects to six. Schoolchildren complain about the stamping of tasks, the lack of the opportunity to show their best sides. Universities are faced with the problem of silent students, because students have been taught to memorize material and mark the correct option. Therefore, the already famous phrase “forget everything you were taught in school” has a place in universities. How the Unified State Examination will change in the coming years is still not known for certain.
news from 16.03.2018 . The deputies of the State Duma will submit for consideration a bill on the abolition of the exam. This information was received from Boris Chernyshov, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Education and Science, co-author of the bill.
But everyone who hoped for the abolition of the exam in 2018 will not be able to please. The Ministry of Education and Science does not support such an initiative and states that it is still premature to talk about the abolition of the USE.
A new Minister of Education is in power, not Dmitry Litvinov, who planned to increase the number of subjects to six by 2018. Vasilyeva, a minister who is a supporter of gradual changes, said that the project to reform the Unified State Examination will continue, but global changes should not be feared.
So what changes will be in the USE 2018?
Let's take a closer look at these new provisions.
The number of required exams for grade 11 is constantly changing. Previously, the question “how many subjects to take” did not arise among eleventh-graders. Necessary were and are:
To get a more necessary certificate than a certificate, these two exams must be passed with a positive mark.
The issue of a third compulsory subject has been considered for a long time, it is possible that at the end of this academic year the children will need to take three compulsory disciplines.
Candidates for the 2018 required exams vary, but the leaders are as follows:
Disputes are underway, and exact information will be given only at the beginning of the school year.
Elective subjects are called so because graduates choose them themselves, based on what subjects are required for admission to the desired university. The number of additional disciplines for delivery is not limited. Therefore, what to take for the exam and how many subjects to take is up to you to choose. There are 12 elective disciplines:
Languages: English, German, French, Spanish.
In 2018, Chinese was added to the list of elective disciplines.
The fact that marks will now be given for the final essay is reported by the latest news. If earlier there was only pass / fail, now a five-point scale is applied to the assessment of the essay. Evaluation criteria can be viewed on the FIPI website. Do you remember that when you enter an essay, points are added? It is it that can become your pass to the coveted place at the institute.
Another news: instead of three essay topics, five will now be offered. There is a chance to choose for yourself a more interesting or simple one. But with an increase in the number of topics, the required volume also increases - 250 words instead of 200. In this way, the reformers are trying to achieve literate written speech from schoolchildren. The hope that schoolchildren will at least read a few books for the exam does not die.
Yes - yes, this is what the experts were guided by when creating new KIMs of the Unified State Examination in literature. Tasks with short answers are excluded, the volume of the essay is increased. This discipline causes a lot of controversy and is most often reformed.
Changes in the USE in 2018 are relevant to other disciplines. Gradually removed test tasks, suggesting a simple choice among these options. Leave tasks of medium and high complexity. Examinations in biology and social science were left without a test part, the examinee must himself give a short answer to the question posed. Thus, it is planned to improve the quality of education in the disciplines.
There will be an oral part for the great and mighty exam soon, but don't worry, not this school year. But the bottom line is that the association of the USE with the test, where you can randomly tick boxes, is being actively removed.
For those who pass computer science, there is also news: passing the exam will be held on computers.
According to numerous surveys and studies, many schoolchildren manage to write off exams in the classroom. Cameras, metal detectors, threats, orders from teachers - none of the above stops students. You still manage to get through with the phone and even use it. Therefore, since 2018, it is planned to place “jammers” for mobile communications. Rosobrnadzor is determined to tighten measures in the preparation of options, their delivery; take observers and teachers even more seriously to avoid the possibility of cheating.
Changes in the Unified State Examination also affected the placement of a score in the certificate. The mark can be both improved and spoiled. But there is an advantage to this. For example, you have been studying Russian all your life with a solid “4”, and suddenly write an exam with “excellent”. Most likely, the teacher will meet you halfway and give you a five in your certificate. But we all understand that, in the end, only the teacher decides what mark to give you in the certificate.
Now you know what changes will be in the USE 2018 and you can try to use them to your advantage. More detailed information about what the USE will look like in 2018 and about innovations in the USE will appear in the fall.

To get a certificate, and not a certificate, you will need one number of points, and another to enter a university. These two concepts should be separated, as the numbers may differ. Every year, the “minimum scores” change, it depends on how well people pass the test in the country. Therefore, today we can only give approximate USE scores:
To obtain a certificate, you must have the following number of points:
But, if we compare these figures, it becomes obvious that the doors to universities are closed for those who just wanted to somehow get a certificate.
All students who have passed to the 11th grade, it remains to be advised: do not hope that the USE will be suddenly canceled in 2018, but take into account the changes in the USE in 2018 and tune in to pass. Many leading figures believe that it is this exam that helps young people from the outback to make their way to the country's leading universities. If so, then the exam is live!
The FIPI website already has options for all disciplines. If you are ready, then no changes will affect your result! Good luck!
It is necessary to carefully monitor changes in the exam options: if you do not pay attention to a new criterion or type of task, this will lead to an offensive loss of points. We have collected everything new in the Unified State Examination so that graduates know what to prepare for in 2019.
What's new?
New task #21
It tests the ability to conduct punctuation analysis of the text, that is, to explain which punctuation mark should be put and why. It involves searching for structures with commas, colons and dashes in the proposed text. 1 point is given for a correct answer. The numbers of correct answers can be given in any order, their number is limited only by the number of sentences.
In the demo version of the exam, the new task number 21 looks like this:
It is important to pay attention to the task, because graduates consistently perform poorly on punctuation tasks. Most often, problems arise with the rules on the topics "Punctuation in sentences with introductory constructions", "Punctuation in sentences with homogeneous members", "Punctuation in complex sentences consisting of several parts".
Task number 2
The task has become more difficult, there are no more answers to choose from. Instead of choosing a word from the proposed list, you will have to select it yourself for the gap. The task tests the ability to identify relationships between sentences and use the means of communication between them.
Tasks #9-12
The changes affected the form of the assignment: instead of writing out words with missing letters, you need to choose the answer option with a number.
On the one hand, it has become easier - you do not need to write out a whole word, on the other hand, it is more difficult, because there can be more than one answer.
Composition
Now, when writing an essay according to the K2 criterion “Comment on the formulated problem of the source text”, they give 5 points instead of 3.
To get all 5 points you need:
The criterion for assessing K4 has changed. Now it is not necessary to give arguments from life experience or literary works. Instead of 3 points, they give 1 for it. In order for the criterion to be counted, it is necessary to express your attitude towards the author's position, whether you agree with it or not, and justify your answer.
Significant changes in the structure and content of the exam in literature are not planned.
What's new?
The criteria for verification and evaluation in assignments have been clarified:
Tasks 8 and 15
The item "The answer is meaningfully related to the task" was replaced by "the answer to the question is given", the essence of the criterion has not changed - the text must be understood correctly, and the author's position is not distorted.
Factual errors are taken into account more strictly: if two or more are made, 0 points are given according to the second criterion, 1 point if one error is made, and a maximum of 2 points if there are no errors.
Tasks 9 and 16
These tasks test how well the graduate can match the proposed work of art with another from the school curriculum. Here, according to the first criterion, you can get the maximum 2 points if the work is named, the author is indicated, it is compared with the proposed text in the given direction, the position of the author of the work is determined correctly.
The main changes relate to what you can get 1 point for: this year it is permissible to compare works in a formal way, that is, simply repeat the wording of the task.
Tasks 17.1–17.4
In the evaluation criteria, it was specified for how many logical errors the points are reduced. So 0 errors - this is 3 points according to the criterion, 1-2 errors - 2 points, 3-4 errors - 1 point, more than 4 errors - 0.
Global changes in the structure and content of the USE test materials in social science in 2019 are not planned.
What's new?
Task #25
Unlike last year, the current answer to the assignment must contain at least three sentences:
The concept is evaluated separately, with a maximum of 2 points, for the other two aspects of the proposal - also give a maximum of 2 points. If the definition in the first sentence is incorrect, then the second part of the lesson is not evaluated at all.
The answer cannot be:
Task #28
In this task, it is necessary to draw up a complex plan that will reveal the stated topic. Like last year, the plan should have at least three points, but now at least two of them should be detailed.
To get the maximum score for an assignment:
Task #29
In the task, you must choose one of the proposed statements and write a mini essay based on it.
This year the wording of the task has been changed:
The evaluation criteria have become clearer, now you can’t slip through with an essay that uses phrases and judgments at the everyday level. The main change concerns criterion 29.3: it now gives a maximum of 1 point. Its meaning lies in the fact that reasoning and conclusions must be consistent, consistent, justified and reliable from the point of view of scientific social science.
What's new?
The paragraph “when answering, avoid quoting redundant text that does not contain provisions that should be given according to the condition of the task” was added to the text of the task. This is due to the fact that graduates often quoted large chunks from the text given in the assignment. Now, if the answer contains extra information, it will not be counted.
What's new?
What's new?
Now, in task No. 40, two statements are offered to choose from, graduates must choose only one and write a detailed essay according to the plan:
Every year, one of the most popular topics discussed is the issue of innovations in the exam in 2019. This is explained by the fact that the event of conducting the final examination work plays an important role in the life of every graduate. After all, the further fate of the child already as an applicant depends on the successful passing of the test.
Interest is also fueled by the fact that this year's USE never repeats the procedure for conducting the previous one, and this obliges you to be prepared for any surprises.
Despite the different opinions about the exam, in 2019 you should not hope for its cancellation, moreover, the preparation should become even more thorough and it is best to start long before the start - no later than two years.
Due to the fact that the developers of KIMs strive to make the final certification as efficient and transparent as possible, to further expand the horizons of students in the field of knowledge, exam tickets are regularly updated with various kinds of changes and additions. To date, rumors that one more discipline will be added to the mandatory disciplines can neither be confirmed nor denied.
With the beginning of the introduction of the unified state exam into the education system, it caused a lot of controversy and controversy. On the one hand, its adherents argue that such a certification format shows an objective picture of the knowledge that schoolchildren have, the existing level of teaching certain disciplines. In addition, the USE allows gifted children to fully express themselves, opening up the possibility of entering prestigious universities.
Opponents of mandatory certification point to many shortcomings. As arguments, they also use the fact that the preparation for the exam affects the nervous system of students, since during this period they are subjected to great psychological stress. This can negatively affect their health in the future.
In addition, the parents of children emphasize that the level of teaching disciplines at school does not meet the requirements of the Unified State Examination. This leads to the fact that in order to fully prepare for the exam, children are forced to turn to tutors for help, to study additionally for a long time, which not everyone can afford because of the low financial condition.
Some opponents consider the testing format unacceptable for our society and advocate the former form of certification, which corresponds to the Soviet model.
Despite the existing contradictions, officials in every possible way reject the possibility of canceling the USE and declare that they are ready to make the necessary improvements, and promise not to stop the improvement process in order to optimize the test.
Future students should be prepared for the fact that the list of compulsory disciplines will be replenished with one more subject. This question has been repeatedly raised, exciting the minds of not only students, but their teachers and parents.
It is assumed that history will be added to the compulsory subjects - this was stated by the head of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science Olga Vasilyeva. Since experts believe that every self-respecting citizen of the country should be able to understand historical facts, to distinguish the truth from falsifications. Which, in the light of recent events related to the information confrontation between different countries, is becoming especially relevant.
In 2020, it is planned to introduce a foreign language as a subject for mandatory certification, this was announced by the Minister of Rosobrnadzor Sergey Kravtsov.
The student can choose the following disciplines as an additional subject for delivery:
From foreign languages, the choice will be offered:
As part of the delivery of a foreign language, it is planned to conduct a trial version with Italian and Japanese. If successful, these languages will also be included in the list of additional subjects.
As before, tests for schoolchildren will begin with the advent of winter - with the writing of the December essay that has already become a tradition. Consequently, today's tenth-graders already now need to decide which direction they will choose in order, accordingly, to understand what they have to prepare for.
The issue of the content of exam papers worries future graduates no less than the number of compulsory disciplines. However, it should be noted that over the past few years, KIM has not undergone any drastic changes. According to officials, the same situation will continue in 2019.
It will be possible to talk about specific innovations and additions after the results of the USE 2018 become known: they need to be checked, analyzed, after which decisions can be made as to what kind and in what quantity changes are required.
Today it is known that the test part of the national exam will be shortened in order to minimize the possibility of cheating and solving tasks by guessing the correct answer. Otherwise, there are grounds for maintaining the previous changes adopted in 2017-2018. In particular:
Based on many years of experience of teachers, the following steps of the preparatory stage can be distinguished:
As practice shows, deep knowledge of the subject alone is not enough for the successful passing of the exam. A prerequisite is the development of many options for solving problems of a certain type. Only in this case, the student will learn to form the optimal solution strategy, which can provide an excellent result.
Exam tickets for the 2019 National Assessment will be printed directly in the classroom. All the necessary equipment will be delivered there in advance - it will be possible to scan the submitted works. Until the very beginning of the exam, no one will know which tasks are selected for KIMs, the forms will already indicate the current date and time.
This innovation will make the certification as objective as possible, exclude the possibility of various kinds of falsification, thus depriving unscrupulous teachers of the opportunity to speculate on forms - to engage in their sale.
In addition, the availability of printing equipment will eliminate another likely problem - providing the required amount of examination materials.
Schoolchildren will also be pleased with the following news: experts are working on revising the process of retaking the exam. It is quite possible that if the certification result is unsatisfactory, the number of retake attempts will increase from one to two. Moreover, the subject that will need to be retaken can be both mandatory and optional.
Whether the number of test scores will change, it is impossible to say with reliable accuracy. However, it is safe to say that, as before, there will be a system of minimum and passing scores:
