Your repairman. Finishing work, exterior, preparatory

Small introduction:

A first-person open-world Survival Horror and Action game developed by Polish studio Techland and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment in 2015

The game takes place in the fictional Middle Eastern metropolis of Harran, which is in the grip of a zombie apocalypse. The protagonist, an undercover agent, joins a community of Harran survivors defending themselves from zombies and bandits. The features of the game are the intensive use of parkour in close urban areas and the change of day and night - at night, much more dangerous opponents appear on the streets of the city, which will be discussed.

∙ Runner

The main thing that distinguishes the runner from the crowds of ordinary zombies, it is his skin, covered with green growths.

Unlike other Infected, the Runner cannot damage the player. At the sight of a player, he will run away from you, and in order to get his precious fabric, you will have to work hard. There are two ways that will come in handy in the fight against them:
- Get a firearm and kill him (but other types of infected will come running).
“Or just sneak up on him from behind and hit him on the head with something heavy.

But note that infected data appears only at night., so be careful, because because of the same shots, not only ordinary infected, but also jumpers can come running.

∙ Biter - Nipper

Biters are the most common type of infected. Alone, they are not dangerous, but since they always go in droves, then they can pretty pat you. Their main weapons are their fists and their main target is your neck.

At night, some biters mutate and gain speed and damage bonuses. They can be divided into four groups:

1. Women. Weaker (easier to kill), but move faster.

2. Men. They have more HP than women.

3. Infected in protective suits. They don't bite, but they hit with their hands. Behind their backs they have a balloon that explodes on impact.

4. Parkourists, former runners of survivors. They know how to run, jump and climb. The main weapon is fists. Rarely found, but if they make a loud noise (shots, breaking a fragile roof and explosions attract them). Can dodge player attacks.

∙ Gas Tank Zombies

Balloon Zombies are just as slow and unintelligent zombies as normal Infecteds, but he has one unique feature that separates this species from ordinary zombies.

Prior to being infected, the victim was most likely working to stop the spread of the infection, as evidenced by the hazmat suit. There is a balloon behind the back of the zombie, which, upon contact with it, explodes after a short period of time, causing damage over the area, or simply sends its carrier into space. Also the corpses of this type of zombie do not allow the player to use camouflage. Sometimes you can meet zombies in the same costume, but without a helmet and balloon.

∙ Thrasher

The most powerful and tenacious infected after the "Destroyers".

The main feature of these infected is the armature, which they use as a weapon. But they also use their fists, which throw the enemy aside. be careful when meeting with such a mutant and try to lure him into a narrow alley, so that he doesn't get caught up. They are very slow, so try to use these two features. Also before they are about to smash you on the floor, they will swing their heavy weapons for about two seconds, there will be an opportunity to jump to the side.

∙ Night Hunter

A fearless hunter guarding jumper hatchery nests. Like any other mutated infected, the hunter has inhuman skills that give him the ability to fight back and exterminate the survivors.

To move, the hunter often uses tentacles, they allow him to move very quickly, but until his stamina runs out. The most brutal ability of the hunter is his "Jump", with his help he pounces on a person and tears him apart. If the hunter is in danger, he simply repels his opponent with a powerful blow. So it is better to be wary of him, and do not underestimate him as an adversary.

∙ Jumper

This type of infected can only be found at night. Leapers are able to land multiple hits at once using inhuman strength and take a decent amount of damage.

In the appearance of the jumpers, there are also differences from ordinary zombies: they have a bifurcated lower jaw, which they use during attacks on survivors, they are tall and muscular has pointed processes in the chest area- apparently, modified ribs.

In physical terms, the jumper moves very quickly and can compete in agility with the player himself, following him to any high ground that his prey can conquer. This species is perfectly oriented in the dark. The jumper can spit poison if the target is in a zone inaccessible to him.

Also from the Suburbs to Harran came a new attack - a mutated version of the jumper, supposedly with some immunity to UV radiation. Thus, it has been experimentally established that the creature is able to briefly overcome the UV radiation of a flashlight at the cost of losing a significant part of its speed, but not its strength. This can be seen by the way she walks towards the player, covering her organs of vision with her hand.

Mutated jumpers, unlike normal jumpers, recognize the player even if he is disguised as a zombie. Perhaps this is one of the manifestations of their higher intelligence.
It is possible that immunity is obtained as a result of the fact that in most cases the larvae of the new species (in nests) are in the light (under the influence of daylight). In addition, the presence of remnants of the mind is not excluded, since in the nests the larvae ask to end their suffering. A distinctive feature of the new subspecies is the randomly protruding bones and increased aggressiveness compared to the usual jumper.

∙ Toad - Toad

Toad is an unusual type of zombie that can shoot a green caustic goo that deals periodic damage to the player when it hits them or in a small radius at the landing site. The slime also deals damage to other types of zombies, for example biters. However, a zombie smeared in this slime will also cause additional damage to the player.

The toad is more dexterous than its brethren, and, in which case, can jump from roof to roof. But, in turn, is the most frail in health and can die from a couple of blows. All of these features make him dangerous in a crowd of biters or along with other mutant zombies and weak in a one-on-one encounter at a short distance.

∙ Bombardier

Bombardier is a special type of Infected, whose distinguishing feature is high stature and protruding internal organs, which are his main weapon. When approaching an enemy, the bombardier emits a cry of pain and explodes, destroying itself and dealing damage in a limited area. The closer the enemy is to him, the more damage he will receive. The radius of destruction is up to three meters. During the explosion, a knockback effect is observed.

By analogy with the epidemic on the island of Banoi, it can be assumed that the scorer got his appearance and original form of attack due to decomposition processes in his body, where gas accumulates in the internal organs of the creature for reasons unknown to science, as indicated by pulsations in the area of released internal organs. Apparently, the scorer's weapon itself gives him some inconvenience, since it can be detected by characteristic sighs.

∙ Screamer - Screamer

Among all types of infected, this type is distinguished by the age of the carrier, because it is less than two years old. Despite its fragility and seemingly harmless nature, this species is characterized by aggression and attacks the player with a powerful shout that has a significant cooldown, but incapacitates the latter for a couple of seconds and makes him vulnerable to zombies.

The destroyer is the result of an out-of-control strain of the virus. Despite his outstanding physical performance, he does not differ in intelligence from ordinary biters. Its attack build times are much longer than those of its smaller counterparts, making it possible to dodge them or use them as another way to get rid of normal zombies.

The Destroyer is a tall and huge mountain of muscle, which distinguishes him from any crowd and allows the enemy to avoid meeting with him. It contains the remains of a helmet with a visor and police armor, which indicates that it belonged to law enforcement agencies before the epidemic.

Also, the back is his unprotected place. During the takeoff, the Destroyer stops sooner or later, it is better not to lose this opportunity, but to inflict heavy damage on it as soon as possible, for this you just need to hit on weak points. Pieces of protective armor will break off from the destroyer as it takes damage. This allows him to open his unprotected places and deal more damage.

Among Crane's opponents there will be both healthy people - bandits, psychopaths, punks and just those who he didn't like, as well as infected ones. All opponents are worthy and able to stand up for themselves and cause a lot of trouble, especially at the initial stage of passing.

People are bandits and hooligans. At the initial levels are dangerous, especially with firearms. Rais bandits are the most dangerous because of their equipment. Humans are able to block shurikens and dodge projectile weapons. After the appearance of the pistol, all bandits with melee weapons become much less dangerous, as they are killed by headshots.

Mutants and Infected

Walkers, eaters (biter) - the usual average zombies, walks the streets of Harran in large numbers, is slow, but can grab or hit quite painfully in the crowd.

The Infected is quite dangerous, can climb buildings, cars, runs fast, fights painfully, and chases the player. Resorts to noise, such as from an exploded balloon or an unsuccessfully loud jump onto the roof. The appearance / approach is accompanied by a heartbreaking howl. Can attack in pairs. An infected person is a person who recently contracted the Harran virus, even thinks a little more, but it’s impossible to negotiate with him.

Chemist - walks in a yellow chemical protection suit, fights. One of the survivors, if rescued, will tell that he served in the CDC unit, they thought that the suits could protect them from bites, but they were mistaken and now they walk around the city infected, only the masks prevent them from biting anyone, so they fight. If you unsuccessfully hit the balloon on the back, it will explode with a hiss and the infected will come running - so only on the head with a stick at the initial stage.

Bombardier - explodes when a player approaches. Unlike its counterpart in Dead Island, the local variety is more agile, well camouflaged in the crowd, and acts against the player quickly and decisively. It is important to quickly identify this dangerous mutant and avoid close contact. Hit in the area of the explosion 100% death.

Toad - spits acid, does not cause much damage, it is quite possible to dodge, can climb buildings. Weak and vulnerable in close combat. You can’t twist your neck by sneaking up from behind.

The Brute is a strong zombie, but slow. He walks with a piece of rebar, sometimes in the clothes of a fireman and there is an option in jeans and a shirt. He can accidentally strike at his own, though it was not possible to wait until he finishes off his colleagues in this way.

Giants - break through walls and throw cars.

Child mutants are creepy guys. There was no such mutant in Dead Island, which was very surprising given the rather dense population of the tropics and the high birth rate. Calling card - loud crying or laughter. The danger lies in the fact that when approached, they begin to yell and attract more dangerous creatures. Eliminate as early as possible or bypass.

They say there is a secret type of zombie with a big arm and brains out, but I have not seen this.

Night dwellers of Harran

The nightlife of the glorious and calm Harran begins at 9 pm, the clock of the protagonist will inform him of the approaching night with a loud squeak. Exactly at 21-00 all the monsters change and become more cheerful and stronger. Creepy creatures similar to the Stalker's bloodsucker crawl out to hunt. Simple zombies also do not waste time and can mutate into a dangerous variety - so do not leave the player on the roof of the car, surrounded by seemingly harmless zombies.

There are several types of night mutants, but it seemed to me that there were only two of them - one evil one, which is visible on the radar and who is afraid of ultraviolet radiation, and the second - all the rest, from which you can still somehow fight back, well, or run away.

Biters - walk quietly. Some can mutate over time into agile and fast.

Enhanced Infected (variant or mutation of biter) - can see the player and aggro on him.

Jumpers are the most dangerous, they go out only at night, they are afraid of an ultraviolet lamp. chase the player even on the roofs, climb very high. At night, they climb into the tunnel and sleep there, as you go for mushrooms, beware, you can suddenly find yourself among a group of unfriendly waking jumpers. Very strong - withstands a burst in the skull from a rifle. If the player hides in a space inaccessible to the jumper, for example, on the border of a peaceful zone, then the jumper starts spitting like a toad poisoning with acid. You can't turn your neck in disguise mode.

Runners are a type of jumpers on which Dr. Zare conducted his experiments. Mandatory to fill up on the instructions of the doctor. Weak, neck can be twisted, easily killed, but shy and fast. Parts of fabrics are used in the manufacture of weapons.

Night hunters are a very vile and dangerous creature. It has tentacles, with the help of which it makes unimaginable jumps of 80 meters. It attacks from a height and fights with its paws. Emits an eerie howl. To stop the attack and greatly reduce combat capability, the light of a faithful ultraviolet flashlight will help (hello from Alan Wake).

Tips from Harran's illustrious hunters and preppers

1. When? The main question of the first part of the game.

When will I be able to scatter all the infected? By level 7-12 for sure. During the day, you can just walk around kicking everyone right and left. But at night everything will remain the same.

2. Is there a mega super killer combo of skills?

Yes, I have. First-level disguise, second-level disguise (gives you the ability to kill from disguise without removing it), kill from behind. In disguise, you are not visible to biters, and coming from the back, they can unscrew their heads and immediately disguise themselves again.

3. Is it possible to complete the game without weapons?

The fathers say that it is possible, but on all the commercials it looks very unconvincing, especially when fighting machine gunners. Kicks and punches are ineffective.

4. How to beat the jumper?

In open combat, it will be difficult even at full leveling, usually an epic battle. There is an easier way to take revenge on the inhabitants of the night and at the same time not particularly risky. To do this, they must be lured to the gates of the village of fishermen. Then heroically climb onto the gate and sit down. All. We take out a pistol and put the jumpers with accurate shots, 1-2 clips should be enough. What about acid spitting? The sign above the gate perfectly neutralizes its impact even on the approach.

You can try to fight back on the roof of the bus - 2-3 shotgun shots point blank.

5. How to kill a runner?

Very simply, he is weak and eats all the time. In the marked location, there is always a broken corpse, which the runner eats. Exactly at 21-00 he teleports to the place of lunch and sits there until the morning. You can just stand next to him and nail him at the beginning of the night. There is a peaceful zone in the Slums, at the bottom of the map, next to which there is food for the runner. There it is enough to leave the peaceful zone and shoot the runner directly from the border. The runner's body parts are used to make weapons.

According to the international calendar of cataclysms, the next zombie apocalypse will not come soon. But you can easily satiate your cravings for killing the dead in this zombie horror with a lot of parkour and makeshift weapons.

Sandbox without borders

Dying Light

Here at your service is a huge city called Harran, filled with crowds of zombies and other creatures, and waiting for you to hit the skull. Rolling up your sleeves and collecting a couple of heaped batons from improvised rubbish, you will turn into a real crusher of the dead. Means of transportation across a vast territory are replaced by swift parkour here - having mastered the mystery of the jump, you will rush along the roofs of destroyed buildings with a flying gait, jump through windows and, grabbing useful parts on the fly, rush into the thick of danger. Thanks to a convenient pumping system, you can either completely focus on parkour, or crush the bones of zombies around the clock - depending on the type of your actions, experience points will drip into the appropriate skill tree: agility, survival and strength.

Dead Rising 3

This enchanting zombie-GTA can be safely considered perhaps the best game in the world of the living dead. Here you are immediately thrown into the big city of Los Perdidos with a bunch of technology, advanced crafting and an unhealthy dose of humor. If you wish, you can forget about story missions and just build powerful weapons and cars. For all the atrocities, you are given only a few days of playing time, after which a rocket will be dropped on the city. At the same time, over time, the total number of zombies on the streets gradually increases to such an amount that the only effective weapon against them is only an armored car that cuts through their crowds like a knife through butter. In general, if you decide to arrange a local apocalypse in an electronic city, you know which game to choose.

Merciless Narrative

Walking Dead

The most accurate description of the main advantage of this story-oriented adventure game can be considered Shnurov's song "No one is sorry." As in the comic itself, the main characters here die in batches, and when this does not happen, their arms or legs are sawn off. In general, each episode here is a more gritty version of the series of the same name with a bunch of bloody twists and dramatic cliffhangers.

Dying Light

Yes, there are also enough naturalistic revelations, self-sacrifice (you will become an unwitting witness to one of them at the very beginning) and moral choice. From time to time you will be asked, for example, to decide whether to save the child or have time to complete the main mission. But you can’t expect a serious story from the game: as an undercover operative named Kyle Crane, you infiltrate a camp of survivors to find a secret file and turn into an errand boy for the whole game.

humor that doesn't exist

Dying Light

As befits most zombie games, this is an absolutely serious epic about the struggle of life and death. In general, this is not so scary, but a couple of witty dialogues in the style of Battlefield: Bad Company would clearly benefit the game. In the end, for all its comicality, "Sean of the Living Dead" closer to the finale gives such drama that even Zvyagintsev would burst into tears.

Sean of the Living Dead

After getting drunk in a pub, two comrades in the morning mistake crowds of zombies for drunken hard workers, try to annihilate the bloodthirsty fat woman with the help of rare records and, in general, do so many homerically funny outrages that after watching the film, all KVN participants will probably start frantically looking for a new job.

Crowds of ferocious dead

World War Z

Apart from the brutal Brad Pitt and the thrilling action scenes, the most memorable detail of the film was the huge crowds of zombies. In one of the scenes, they formed a pile of malu so high that they almost shot down a helicopter. To meet so many cannon fodder in the game would be a real happiness.

Dying Light

Here, of course, there are also a lot of walking creatures - if you wish, you can dive with a sledgehammer at the ready around the clock into crowds of slow-moving ragamuffins and crush their tops without interruption with any means at hand. But crowds like in World War Z or Dead Rising 3 are not to be expected.

Riddles and puzzles

Dying Light

Turing's heirs definitely have nothing to do here, since all the work of thought in Dying Light comes down to a rare picking of locks with master keys. The remaining 99% of the game time is devoted to beating corpses, parkour and hide and seek in the night. Aging quest and crossword fans might say that without "find twenty-five clues" challenges, modern games have become a silly finger trainer. But believe me, the world needs such unpretentious games where you can scream “Kawabanga!” let off steam by moving a wrench on the skull of abstract evil.

resident evil

In the era of low resolutions and poor textures, the main source of problems in survival horror games were not zombies, but complex puzzles. At one time, the Resident Evil series destroyed many destinies and keyboards with its unsolvable riddles, against which the shooting of the sluggish dead looked like resort entertainment - you can painlessly see this in the recent HD remake of the first part. However, there are enough puzzles in modern games of the series, so if your brain yearns for puzzles, you know where to look for them.

Night zombies

I'm a legend

As you remember, the main source of the thick atmosphere of horror and nightmare in the film was not the poor quality of the freshly downloaded screen, but the fear of the night - with its onset, flocks of bloodthirsty zombie sprinters fell out onto the streets of the deserted city. The clock of the protagonist became a symbol of this danger, angrily beeping at sunset. The developers of Dying Light carefully transferred this detail to the game.

Dying Light

The key feature of the game is the dynamic change of day and night. In the light, zombies are lethargic - you can relatively calmly go about your business and get involved in large-scale brawls. At night, two options appear: to run, and often on rooftops, through fences and window openings; or heroically sit in the bushes for seven hours of playing time. You can take my word for it - it's much scarier than watching a frightened Will Smith.

fast zombies

Dying Light

After living in the game for more than one night, you will meet fast and jumping undead parkourers, like yourself - these creatures can easily jump onto the roof and bite off a piece of your ass. But they are all nothing compared to night enemies. These are real athletes of the afterlife, able to easily catch up with you in two jumps.

28 days later

In the past decade, this nimble masterpiece by Danny Boyle has become a real revelation for all fans of the genre. Compared to them, the good old dead who hobbled lazily in George Romero films began to look like harmless familiars. But after meeting with the speed bumps from Dying Light, Boyle's new invention now causes us only a slight chuckle.

Bloody multiplayer

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare

Once you turn on this game, you run the risk of either immediately pulling it out of the socket and breaking the disk in half out of indignation, or hanging in the open spaces of digital gardens for a long time. In essence, this is the same Plants vs. Zombies, only in the Battlefield wrapper - here you will also defend the territory and capture enemy flags, only in the role of daisies and cacti or furious zombie football players.

Dying Light

The main advantage of the local multiplayer lies in the ability to play as a night zombie. Conceptually, this is reminiscent of the “Hunter” mode from Crysis 3 or the upcoming game Evolve - here you are also hunted by a team of armed players who do not realize that you are actually hunting for them. Beautifully jumping out of the darkness, you can quietly tear them apart, maliciously grunting with pleasure on the other side of the monitor.

Biters are the most common zombies. Most often they are slow, weak and do not have any special attacks. Biters deal damage only when they manage to slap you or grab and bite you. Vulnerable to head attacks. Sprint allows you to avoid them. They won't chase you for very long if you try to break away.

Biters are more aggressive at night and hobble towards you with greater tenacity, but still pose the least of a threat among the infected. Climb higher to avoid these creatures. They won't crawl under barriers or climb over barricades. Use high ground to look for safer areas of movement.

If you stay on the ground, use feints or Agility abilities to get past large groups of Biters. Firecrackers lure them away from your character and fixate on the sound and explosions. After acquiring abilities such as Vault, it becomes much easier to get around Biters, because you can run up to them, jump over the group and continue moving without wasting time. A very useful thing!

Press the button shown on the screen if you are grabbed by a normal zombie. These attacks deal quite a bit of damage if not responded to quickly. There are special abilities that allow you to break out of Biter's grip much faster, but they are not available at the beginning of the game (so you must act quickly when resisting).

These zombies work very well against high to medium speed weapons because they often spawn in large numbers. Avoid slow weapons, as if you get carried away killing one Biter, you will be pinned down by all of his buddies before you can attack again. If you want to use something slower and heavier, grab a two-handed weapon and try the Force skill called Whirlwind to sweep away large groups of Biters at once.

Try not to waste a lot of throwing weapons or bullets on these weak infected. Save your best items for more dangerous enemies!

RUNNERS

Hunting Runners is profitable. They do not appear in the early stages of the game. You have to wait for a certain point in the plot before they show up. When this happens, you will start seeing Runner icons on the map. They appear at night on hunting grounds. You'll never see them during the day, so don't even try to search until it's really dark.

It would be overkill to say that Runners are more lovers than fighters, but they are definitely the least aggressive type of infected. They really prefer to run away rather than face to face. Get behind and use ranged weapons to kill these creatures before they can react. A single headshot from a distance is the best reliable way to get a kill.

Hunt Runners for their special fabrics. The latter are very expensive when selling. This material can also be used in crafting. Thanks to him, excellent weapon upgrades and various special potions are obtained.

If you spook the Runner before killing it, the creature will run, but this does not mean that you have missed it. Ready some kind of ranged weapon and run after it, attacking from a distance. This will either lead to a kill on the spot, or at least slow down the victim so that you can catch up with him and finish him off.

BOMBARDIERS

Bombardiers are vile and dangerous zombies. They don't try to bite or hit you. No, they wait for someone to get close, and then they detonate with just a moment's warning. Anything within a few meters takes catastrophic damage. Use a ranged weapon to kill the Bombardiers, or activate them by getting close, and then escape behind the wall blocking the explosion.

Always try to spot the Bombardier before he gets anywhere close. They are rounder than normal infected (and not particularly tall). They are bloated, all pustules and groaning differently from normal zombies. You also need to pay attention to the strange, clumsy gait that Bombardiers are known for.

When activated, you have a short moment to dodge. If it's about to explode, dodge as far as you can to minimize the damage it takes. Use these explosions to your advantage whenever possible by luring Bombardier into a group of zombies before activating. This way you will get rid of a whole pack of opponents!

DESTROYERS

Destroyers do not appear in the city until you have advanced decently in the game. These super-heavy zombies have massive health, high damage potential, and are usually covered by at least a couple of armor plates. Your initial attacks deal less damage until the armor falls off (unless you aim well enough to avoid protected areas).

The key to killing Devastators is to master your side dodge. They can throw debris at a long distance, attack close, rush to shoot down. Stay out of melee range to avoid the fastest attacks; use dodge in any direction to avoid getting hit by debris or a rush attack. The hardest part is not to dodge too early when the Destroyer is charging at you. He can adjust his movement and still get Crane. Stay calm and wait for the last moments of the raid to make sure you get out of the way.

After avoiding the Destroyer's attack, use its cooldown to move in and land a few hits. Jump away as soon as the monster turns towards you and resume the defensive part of the battle.

If there are no other zombies nearby, the Destroyers become very easy to kill (and give a huge amount of experience for them). You also get a lot better stuff from them than from most opponents. Never leave their corpses unsearched!

If there are other infected nearby, kill them first to make it easier to fight the Destroyer. Lure zombies into areas where the Destroyer cannot proceed; the big guy can't climb, get under things, get through little doorways.

ZOMBIES WITH BALLONS

In the early days of the outbreak, the city struggled to counter the threat of the virus. People were sent not without protection, but they were given level 4 biohazard suits. They had complete physical barriers and an independent air supply, but that still wasn't enough to save them. Biters were capable of tearing apart suits, infecting teams of government workers despite precautions. The infected are still walking around in this outfit. They are difficult to kill because the suits absorb a huge amount of damage. They also explode if you pierce the balloon, and if you are nearby during the penetration, you will receive serious damage. Use ranged weapons instead of melee attacks to get the job done. The classic move is to kick zombies in the legs to knock them down, then shoot the tanks while they lie helpless on the ground. After - RUN!

If you don't have a ranged weapon, swing from behind until the balloon breaks, then run like it's here! If possible, use Firecrackers to attract other infected to Gas Tanks before finishing them off. It's just great to undermine one of them when there are many other targets nearby.

Later, Balloon Zombies become even more of a threat in some ways. Your powerful weapon deals so much damage that you can cause an explosion, even if you did not aim directly at the tank. Because of this, you are safely undermined, which is inopportune. Luckily, you start carrying more bullets by then. If detonation becomes a problem, pay even more attention to keeping your distance when fighting Balloon Zombies.

During high-level chases or on special occasions, they may run towards you in an attempt to blow themselves up. Shoot them from a distance to save yourself from almost instantaneous death in a powerful explosion. Or run away and get to a safe place to get a better angle of attack.

BRUSHERS

Zombies as big as Thugs are slow and clumsy, so it's easy to run away from them. But they are equally difficult to kill. Thugs bolster their natural powers with two-handed weapons, and they are pretty good at using these items. Be prepared for a variety of dangerous attacks as you try to kill the Brute.

If you're really close, beware of the slap. This is one of the few quick attacks that you should avoid. Bounce straight back to prevent taking damage. Other attacks include a whirlwind, where the weapon makes a 720-degree arc, and an overhead strike that has much more range than it might seem because it has its own shockwave. Jump back when the Brute gets hot and keep backing until the weapon hits the pavement. Always lean towards going too far; otherwise, you will be knocked down from time to time.

The least costly way to kill a Brute is to step forward, thump your melee weapon once, and then dodge while counterattacking. Let it be slow, but it is reliable enough and will not exhaust your stocks of cartridges or thrown weapons. If you're ready to use these resources, then just move back, use ranged attacks to wound and then kill the Brute, and if one of them is close, let's back up. It's that simple. Pistol headshots turn Brute into mush. They are incredibly easy to hit, so take your time, aim well and earn a safe kill.

SCREAMERS

Screamers are the children of Harran who fell victim to the epidemic. They are not capable of fighting survivors directly, but their screams distract you, slow people down, and summon other zombies from all over the area. Move quickly into melee range and use the Calm down technique to silence the Screamers. This is the best thing you can do for them.

You always know about the closeness of the Screamer: they cry when they are left to their own devices. This will sound like a normal baby crying, but don't be fooled. Ready your weapons and try to stop the Screamer before he provokes a major fight.

INFECTED

Some zombies have died recently and have not yet lost their mobility. These opponents are fast (able to keep up Kyle's pace even when he is sprinting). They will tirelessly pursue you through the whole city. The fact that one of them is attached to you can be determined by the icon on the mini-map.

Lure the Infested into tight spaces so they can't overwhelm them. Use ranged weapons to soften them up as they approach, and switch to melee to finish them off as they lie wounded on the ground. When fighting them, be careful: you can focus too much on the immediate threat and run into other zombies. Stay alert and don't let these infected scare you into making mistakes.

Firecrackers distract pursuing Infected, giving them extra time to get out of their line of sight. Diving under water is also a great way to break the chase. If those options don't work, deal damage and slow the pursuers with thrown weapons, or jump to higher ledges so you can fight the Infected without having to worry about other zombies (because most won't be able to climb in after you).

It's always best to attack the Infected while they're climbing or crawling to get to you, because for a short time they won't be able to dodge or fight back. Get the most out of this. Push them off rooftops for extra damage. It also buys you time to escape or pay attention to other Infected that might be coming at you.

TOADS

You wouldn't normally expect zombified people to have ranged weapons, but these bastards have them! They are so heavily infected that they are capable of throwing vomit over a very long distance. Dodge their projectiles by dodging to the side and respond either with your own ranged attacks or by running up to them and hitting them with a wave of powerful blows to kill the Toad before she recovers.

Even if Toad misses, you can take damage. The drops act like grenades when they miss their target. An icon appears warning that one has fallen nearby. Run away and hope for the best. The tainted substance these guys are spitting does damage over time to anything it hits. If it's Kyle, the screen also tints momentarily, making it harder to see what's going on.

Toads don't take a lot of damage to die, and you should focus entirely on taking them out before worrying about other undead in the area. When all ranged targets are out, you get a huge advantage in maneuvering because you don't have to think about angles of attack, cover, and so on. Toads die quickly whether you use ranged attacks or melee weapons.

JUMPERS

Jumpers are one of the most dangerous zombies in the city. It seems that their skin has almost completely peeled off, which is why they have an awesome look. As a rule, they come out at night, but during the day they can be found in dark tunnels and sewers.

Since Leapers are photophobic, you can get a serious advantage in the fight against them by adopting a UV Flashlight. Shine in their faces to interrupt the monsters, and keep attacking until they are dead. Traps with UV lamps are similarly amazing against them.

If you're just trying to get away from Jumpers, use Signal Flares to light up the area and scare them away. Or throw Firecrackers to distract you while you're away.

Similar to the Infected, these hunter enemies appear on the mini-map. Keep an eye on their patrol and vision areas so you don't give away your presence. The time spent moving quietly and discreetly really pays off.

During chases, Jumpers can sprint, climb, and overcome most barriers. In combat, they are fast and able to take a lot of damage. They jump on prey like normal zombies, but this attack deals much more damage. You need to press the button displayed on the screen to push the monster away from you, and after a moment he will certainly be ready to attack again. Fast weapons are ideal, as Leapers move quickly and are not great targets due to their natural mobility.
