It also provides a list of all the necessary tools that will be required in the process. Detailed photos and video tutorials will show the technology of the process, reveal all the details and secrets of experienced craftsmen.

Decorative finishing has a large number of advantages, which made it popular among the population. These include:

  • durability;
  • practicality;
  • moisture resistance;
  • fire resistance;
  • environmental friendliness.

To finish the walls with Venetian plaster, you do not need to be a professional master, you just need to know:

  • material handling technology;
  • features of its use in practice;
  • principles of application in the repair process.

What is Venetian Plaster

This is a versatile material. It is made from marble dust and acrylic polymer. With the help of Venetian plaster, stylish and sophisticated wall coverings of both matte and glossy textures are created. The finish is so natural that it is almost indistinguishable from the surface of stone, marble, travertine, etc.

Important! Venetian plaster is used for kitchens furnished in a classic format, as well as in a minimalist, art deco and modern style.

Material disadvantages

Although Venetian plaster has many advantages, it also has significant disadvantages. These include:

  • cost (this is a very significant factor, since not every person is able to afford such an expensive material);

Venetian plaster is a very durable material.

  • high strength, which greatly interferes during the dismantling of the finish (in the process of new repair work).

Advice. In order not to waste energy on removing the old finish layer (this is a very laborious process), experts recommend applying a new coating on top of it.

The technological process of working with plaster and applying it to the walls of the kitchen

The process itself is quite laborious, as it includes several successive stages. In order for the work to be effective, it is necessary to take each of them very seriously and responsibly.

The technology for applying decorative finishes consists of:

  1. Prepare all necessary tools.
  2. Wall surface preparation.
  3. Preparation of material for work.
  4. Applying plaster.
  5. Applying a special decorative wax to the entire surface of the Venetian finish.

Preparing tools for work

At this point, you need to be especially careful, so that later you do not run to your neighbor for the missing tool. For work you will need:

  • buckets or basins (for material preparation);
  • drill with a special nozzle-mixer;
  • special building spatulas;
  • trowel;
  • roller;
  • special polishing machine;
  • sponges and pieces of cotton fabric;
  • building level;
  • Master OK;
  • hatchet

Wall surface preparation

Important! The final result of the wizard will depend on the correctness of this step.

Before proceeding with the application of Venetian plaster to the surface, it must be prepared.

  • The first stage of work is leveling the surface. It is performed with plasterboard sheets, plaster or special latex putty.
  • The second stage is the treatment with a primer mixture (deep penetration). It reliably protects the surface from the appearance of harmful fungi and mold.

  • The third stage is the application of a covering primer. It will provide improved bonding of the plaster to the treated surface.
  • The fourth (final) stage of preparatory work is the removal of irregularities on the treated surface. For these purposes, use a grinder or sandpaper.

Important! The wall before applying the decorative finish must be dry, even, smooth and without cracks.

Preparation of material for work

This is the simplest stage, it includes only the preparation of decorative plaster for application to the wall. In order for the color of the finish to match the desired one, it is necessary to add a special dye to the container with the finished mixture (for uniform mixing, it is recommended to use a drill with a mixer nozzle).

Applying decorative finishes to the prepared wall

Important! Before proceeding with the application of plaster on the prepared surface, it is necessary to make sure that the primer is completely dry.

In order to form a beautiful and stylish decorative finish on the wall, sequentially apply from 3-4 layers to 10. Before each new layer of plaster, be sure to clean the previous one from bumps or protrusions, as shown in the photo.

Layer technology:

  1. The first layer serves as the basis for the decorative finish. It is applied with a spatula or a special Venetian trowel (the layer must be even and neat).
  2. The second and subsequent layers (as many as the master decides to do) are applied in spots, using a special spatula, until a beautiful picture begins to be drawn on the wall. Each of the coatings is allowed to dry completely (sandpaper is used to remove irregularities, grinding is performed with light circular movements or a special grinder is used).
  3. After the last layer has dried, proceed to the surface treatment of the wall to show the pattern of Venetian plaster. For polishing, use a spatula or Venetian trowel (you need to work carefully so as not to damage the finish).

Important! The spots of each of the layers should not overlap each other.

Applying decorative wax

This is the final stage of work. The substance is applied to protect the decorative finish from moisture, which is relevant for kitchen facilities. Wax is sold in hardware stores, so its purchase will not cause unnecessary trouble.

Technology for applying wax to the surface of Venetian plaster:

  1. Decorative wax is applied to the dried surface of Venetian plaster (in a day) using a special spatula. The layer is made thin to prevent cracking and shedding.
  2. After 1 hour, start polishing the wax surface. For these purposes, a special nozzle is used (it will do its job without damaging the finish itself).
  3. The treated surface is allowed to dry completely, this will take 2-3 weeks.

There is nothing scary, dangerous or difficult in this work. The main condition for obtaining a good result is compliance with the technology of applying a decorative finish to the prepared surface. Try, try, everything will definitely turn out!
